What is the problem or goal the end user is trying to solve or accomplish?
Business users should be able to search for preset created metrics/calculated fields across the organization, without know which datset they belong to.
How are they solving it currently?
Currently metrics are created within a dataset, and the only time you can see what metrics are available (if you are not a dataset owner), is by pulling that table into a chart.
This makes it difficult for business users to search for a specific metric they are looking for.
What is the recommended solution by the Customer?
In addition to the "Datasets" and "Charts" searches, there should be an additional search for Metrics (and calculated fields), where people can search for the metric, and can easily create chart using that metric, with all the dimensions available in the table the metric comes from.
We have a similar use case where we loose custom dimensions and metrics after joining datasets and saving them as virtual datasets. As we need to join data based on a variety of use cases, this is very cumbersome, as the custom dimensions and metrics need to be added to the dataset manually afterwards again (in addition to all the labels and descriptions). If your solution could also extend to this problem, it would be great.
