Multi-page / Print-optimized PDF Export for Dashboards

What is the problem or goal the end user is trying to solve or accomplish?

Currently, when exporting a dashboard to PDF, all charts from the selected tab are placed on a single PDF page. While the PDF is vectorized (so users can zoom in on screen and see everything clearly), when they try to print that PDF to paper, everything is too small and unreadable because it is forced into one page.

The goal is to print dashboards across multiple pages so charts and labels are legible on paper.

How are they solving it currently?

  • They export the dashboard to PDF and:

    • Can zoom in on screen and see the charts clearly thanks to vectorization.

    • But when printing, everything remains tiny and compressed on a single page.

  • There is no good in-product workaround to:

    • Automatically split content across multiple pages, or

    • Control how many charts appear per page.

Any alternative (like manual screenshots, copying charts into other tools, or manually editing the PDF) is time-consuming and not scalable.

What is the recommended solution by the Customer?

The customer would like the PDF export feature to support a print-optimized / multi-page mode, for example:

  • Option to export dashboards so that:

    • Charts are split across multiple PDF pages instead of being forced on one page.

    • Layout respects readability (e.g., a limited number of charts per page).

  • Optional configuration such as:

    • Page size (A4, Letter, etc.)

    • Orientation (portrait/landscape)

    • Scaling or “fit charts to page” logic.

  • Maintain the current behavior (single-page, zoomable, vector PDF) as one mode, and add a “print-friendly multi-page” mode as an additional option.

This would allow users to both:

  • View dashboards clearly on screen (current behavior), and

  • Print dashboards in a readable format, with charts sized appropriately on paper.
