Add toggle to control conditional formatting baseline in Interactive Table charts

What is the problem or goal the end user is trying to solve or accomplish?

Users want consistent and understandable conditional formatting behavior in Interactive Table charts. Currently, the behavior changes depending on whether filtering is applied via dashboard filters or within the chart table itself, which is confusing.

How are they solving it currently?

Users observe that:

  • Dashboard filters reset the conditional formatting range based only on the visible (filtered) data.

  • Interactive table filters (applied via column headers) retain the full dataset’s conditional formatting baseline, even when filtered.

There is no clear UI control to toggle this behavior, so users have to understand the difference implicitly, which is unintuitive and can cause misinterpretation of the color scale.

What is the recommended solution by the Customer?

Provide a clear toggle (e.g., a button or switch) in the chart or dashboard UI to let users choose whether conditional formatting should be:

  • Calculated based on all rows (full dataset baseline), or

  • Calculated based on only visible rows (filtered dataset baseline).

This would allow users to explicitly control the formatting behavior depending on the analysis goal — comparison within the whole population vs. comparison within a filtered subset.
