What is the problem or goal you're trying to solve or accomplish?
When adding or editing a filter in a chart's Data panel, the user types part of a value into the value box to narrow the dropdown (for example, "RA"), then clicks the value they want (for example, "RAMP"). The value is added as a selected chip, but the typed text "RA" stays in the input next to it. This makes the filter look like it contains an extra or partial value, which can confuse users about what is actually being applied. Most users delete the leftover text by hand. The customer confirmed that the leftover text is ignored when the chart is saved, so the filter result is correct. The goal is a cleaner, less ambiguous selection experience.
How are you solving it currently?
They manually delete the typed text after selecting a value, or leave it in place, since it is ignored on save.
What is your recommended solution?
After a value is selected from the dropdown, the typed search text should be cleared automatically so only the selected value(s) remain in the input.
