What is the problem or goal you're trying to solve or accomplish?
Users need to freeze dashboard data at a specific point in time (e.g., quarter close) and keep that snapshot accessible to viewers. Today, every chart queries the database live, so there's no way to preserve "what the numbers were on date X" — especially problematic when underlying tables are overwritten daily. This is a blocker for use cases like quarterly incentive payouts where the dashboard needs to serve as a system of record.
How are you solving it currently?
The recommended workaround is to create a snapshot table at the database level (e.g., Snowflake table clone) and duplicate the dashboard pointing to that frozen table. This works but requires data engineering effort on the customer side and is outside of Preset. Scheduled PDF reports are another partial workaround but are non-interactive and have size limitations.
What is your recommended solution?
A native mechanism to freeze a dashboard's data at a given point in time where the user can trigger a snapshot, and the dashboard (or a copy of it) serves that frozen data to viewers without hitting the live database. Ideally viewers would be able to access the frozen version the same way they access a published dashboard.
