Interactive Table – Persist “Default Hidden Columns” configuration and user column visibility state

What is the problem or goal the end user is trying to solve or accomplish?

Authors want to define which columns are visible or hidden by default in an Interactive Table and have those settings persist across reloads and embedded dashboards.

Currently, authors can hide columns using the “Choose Columns” menu, but these visibility settings reset to all visible after saving or reloading the chart. This limits the ability to preconfigure a clean, user-friendly default view.

How are they solving it currently?

Authors manually hide columns again each time they edit or reload the chart. End users viewing embedded dashboards see every column visible by default, leading to cluttered tables and inconsistent visual layouts.

What is the recommended solution by the Customer?

Persist the visible/hidden column state from the “Choose Columns” panel when saving the chart.

When the chart or dashboard reloads, maintain those visibility settings exactly as saved.

Apply the same persistence behavior across:

  • Chart Builder (Explore)

  • Dashboards

  • Embedded dashboards

(Optional) Allow end users’ runtime selections to persist (session or per user) with a “Reset to Author Defaults” option.
