Option to hide or customize ‘# Observations’ and other variables from Box Plot tooltip

What is the problem or goal the end user is trying to solve or accomplish?

The customer wants to use a Box Plot in their Preset dashboards without exposing the “# Observations” metric in the tooltip. This number is considered sensitive/competitive information and should not be visible to end users.

How are they solving it currently?

They attempted to hide or mask the information using CSS modifications, but none of the solutions worked. There is currently no supported way in Preset/Superset to remove or customize this field in the Box Plot tooltip.

What is the recommended solution by the Customer?

Introduce a configuration option (e.g., a toggle or advanced settings parameter) to either:

  • Hide the “# Observations” entirely from the tooltip, or

  • Mask the actual count so that the field is blank or not shown.

This would allow customers to use Box Plot visualizations without disclosing sensitive observation counts.
