Allow Forced Chart Name Propagation from Chart Panel to Dashboards

What is the problem or goal the end user is trying to solve or accomplish?

Users expect that when they rename a chart from the chart panel (e.g., via the Explore view or chart editor), the new name will reflect across all dashboards where that chart is used. However, once a chart is added to a dashboard, any name assigned to it at the dashboard level takes precedence. This leads to confusion and inconsistency in chart naming across dashboards.

How are they solving it currently?

Currently, users must manually rename the chart in every dashboard where it appears if they want the new name to be reflected consistently. There is no option to force or propagate the new name from the chart panel across all instances in dashboards.

What is the recommended solution by the Customer?

Introduce a feature that gives users control over whether a chart name change made in the chart panel should override existing dashboard-level names. This could be a toggle or option during the renaming process (e.g., “Apply name change across all dashboards?”). This would help maintain consistency and reduce manual effort in keeping chart names updated across dashboards.
