Customizable Comparison Labels for Big Number Charts

What is the problem or goal the end user is trying to solve or accomplish?

Users want more flexibility in labeling comparisons for rolling window metrics in Big Number charts. Specifically, they need to display absolute time differences (e.g., "X hours faster/slower than the previous 14-day window") instead of being limited to percentage differences with a static suffix. The current implementation forces users to use a percentage-based comparison, which can be misleading (e.g., a negative percentage requiring a label like "-9% slower").

How are they solving it currently?

Users can manually interpret the percentage change and apply a label, but this creates confusion when conveying the speed of change (e.g., "-9% slower" instead of "9% faster").

What is the recommended solution by the Customer?

Introduce a way for users to customize comparison labels dynamically. Options include:

  • Allowing absolute time differences to be displayed instead of just percentages.

  • Enabling conditional formatting of labels (e.g., displaying "X hours faster" for negative differences and "X hours slower" for positive differences).

  • Adding a configurable suffix/prefix that adapts based on the value’s sign.

This would improve clarity and usability, making the chart insights more intuitive.
