Connecting fact tables with dim tables without the need to create a virtual dataset

We have to or 1) create a model on our pipeline and then connect it to preset or 2) create a virtual dataset
What is the recommended solution by the Customer?
A similar approach to Power BI, being able to put the relationship of the tables and then query them as a Star Schema
